About Elvira Cisneros Senior Community Center
The Elvira Cisneros Senior Community Center by WellMed is a free community resource open to anyone age 60 and older. It opened in Fall 2008 as an initiative of WellMed Medical Management as a gift to the South San Antonio community. More than 6,500 seniors are members today. The 28,000 square-foot center, the brainchild of Kym Rapier, wife of WellMed Founder Dr. George Rapier - is named after Elvira Cisneros, a member of the Texas Women’s Hall of Fame and mother of former Mayor Henry Cisneros. The senior center features state-of-the-art exercise equipment, a variety of exercise programs, dance and yoga classes, computer room, Wii fit room, library, and more.

My wife and I received our COVID vacine at the community/WELMED event on 11 Jan and both the center and WELMED are to be commended for such a well run, efficient event. We were taken in right on our appointment time and were out in less than an hour. No line, no waiting. Everyone involved was extremely helpful and friendly. They had their act together and it should be a model for other vaccination sites. Thank you to all concerned.
