About Shepherd's Center Of St. Andrews

Shepherd’s Center of St. Andrews is an all-volunteer, interfaith learning program for active, independently mobile adults fifty and above, governed by a Board of Directors elected by the membership. We are affiliated with the national Shepherd's Centers of America, founded in Kansas City in 1972. Our goal is to help seniors enjoy a vibrant and active life. Current membership is 285. Programs are intended to: Enlighten, Entertain, Engage, Energize, We typically offer three 45-minute class sessions each Tuesday, covering a wide array of academic as well as general interest topics. We like to say that we are the best parts of college: great lectures and good discussions about interesting topics – with no homework and no tests! Many of our teachers are professors from the University of South Carolina or Columbia College; some are retired and some are active faculty. All volunteer their time and expertise. Some teachers are current members of the Shepherd's Center with areas of knowledge that interest the membership. Others are experts in the community who also volunteer their time.
