Overview
The Active Lifestyles Program at the Denbigh Community Center (DCC) offers daily fitness activities including the morning stretch and the walking program. A variety of fitness classes are offered for the older adult including Essentrics: Aging Backwards, Yoga, Morning Exercise Class (Monday, Wednesday, Friday), and Tai Chi. Participants can also sign up for computer classes (beginners and advanced), line dancing, AARP Defensive Driving classes, and more. The center hosts special events such as periodic health screenings, speaker's bureau, cultural enrichment programs, and educational seminars. Clubs include Pinochle, and Bridge. Open recreation in the gym is offered and includes pickleball, badminton, corn hole, and basketball (check the center schedule or call the center for dates/times). Semi-annual pickleball and cornhole fun days are also held at the center. The center is located in the Stoneybrook area of Newport News and is open to the public.
