About Young Israel Senior Services Of Midwood Nbh Inc.

Our program is located in the basement of the Young Israel of Midwood synagogue at 1694 Ocean Avenue in Brooklyn, New York. We offer a small breakfast of coffee, roll or cake. Our daily congregational lunches are Glatt Kosher and catered by Chap-A-Nosh. We offer daily exercise classes such as Stretch & Tone, Yoga, Israeli dancing, Tai Chi, Zumba, line dancing, Computers and Technology, painting, ESL classes on an advanced and intermediate level. We provide weekly blood pressure screening and various lectures on nutrition topics, health management such as fall prevention, healthy cooking classes, care giver support groups. We have monthly birthday parties and cultural events to celebrate all the holidays. We assist seniors with benefits and entitlements such as SCRIE, food stamps, heap, access a ride, meals on wheels and any paperwork that requires assistance to complete. We network with many organizations to assist our holocaust survivor seniors in obtaining any services that are available to them such as transportation to doctors, cleaning help, and home health aides. We have staff that are fluent in Russian and Yiddish to assist seniors who do not speak English. Once a week we have a volunteer who is a trained benefit specialist to assist the seniors with benefits. We have a new handicap accessible van that picks up seniors daily to Transport them to the center. Since we have our own van, that allows us to take them on small trips, tashlich and make shiva calls.
