Orange Park Senior Center

I have not even stepped foot in the door and here I am already writing a review! Wow! I recently moved to the Doctor's Lake area from Louisville, KY. I am 66 years old and do not know anyone in the area so I thought I would consider going to a senior center. If what I have seen so far is anything to judge, it is not encouraging. To even get in the door, it appears that I am expected to go through some gatekeeper case manager. I am not a "case" and I do not need a "manager." Your posted website is non-existent. Your phone is not answered by real "hooman," but a totally unintelligible recording that drones on and on with the acoustic quality of nails on a blackboard. Lastly, the cost of your "services" is not listed. I am not yet sure you have any "services" I need, but I am pretty sure I bring a lot of "contribution" to the table. I am just wondering how much you want to charge me to "contribute." I was looking for fun and friendship but all I see is another bureaucracy. Sad.

In the heart of Orange Park is the Senior Center. What a wonderful place for seniors to meet other seniors. Play Bingo, cards, pool or just sit and chat. Free hot nutritious meals are served Monday through Friday. The staff is outstanding, and always ready to help and give a friendly smile. What a great benefit for the seniors in Clay County. A standing ovation to those folks who made this facility available to our senior residents.
