Overview

The Council On Aging (COA) is the municipal agency that is mandated as the focal point for access to services and programs for the City's elderly residents (60 years old and older). Created under Chapter 495 of Massachusetts General Laws, Acts of 1956, and established by City Codes 4-2 in 1964, the CO A mission is to provide services designed to improve the quality of life for Haverhill residents who are 60 years of age or older. We offer a variety of cost-effective programs and services for our elderly residents that are designed to help them remain independent, stay healthy, keep fit and actively involved in their community. A Senior Identification Card (proof of age is required), available free of charge at the COA Info and Referral Office (Rm. 32), is required in order to participate in many of these programs and services. We are supported by City appropriations, fund-raising, private donations and grants.

Ask a Question

Question by Theresa A Diffin: Good afternoon! I run the LFL cafe at City Hall right here in Haverhill. I am looking to see if it would be possible to send over some desserts(cake, brownies)etc to either use with th Meals on Wheels Program or to have with coffee at center itself. I am Serv Safe Certified so they would be made right here in the cafe. Our students are very grateful to have the opportunity to work there a couple of times a week. We would love to give back to the community. Thank you Theresa

Question by David Stone: Hello! My partner and I have a bunch of inventory left by our former tenant, a now bankrupt game store, that we would like to donate. Our inventory includes playing cards (including large print) dominoes, jigsaw puzzles, cribbage boards (very nice boards with card and peg storage) etc. If you have any interest in this material (it will fill a smallish carton) we will bring it over - I just need to know who to bring it to. Please respond soonest as we need the space and have other places that we can donate this too. All material is suitable for adults - no kids' games. Thanks for your speedy reply Best regards, Dave Stone Creatorpult Games A Veteran-owned company.
