Senior Program At The Goleta Community Center

Overview

The Senior Program at the Goleta Community Center was originally managed by the Goleta Valley Community Center organization until December of 2022, when the program was put on hiatus due to the anticipated Seismic Construction Project in early 2023. In an effort to continue providing senior services to the community, The City of Goleta assumed interim management of the Senior Program on a status quo basis. During this period, the City issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the DEVELOPMENT, IMPLEMENTATION AND COORDINATION OF A COMPREHENSIVE SENIOR-FOCUSED PROGRAM. Unfortunately the City was unsuccessful in these efforts, receiving zero proposals. At the City Council meeting of Tuesday, February 20, 2024, an item was brought forth requesting the authorization of City staff to provide direct senior programming at the Goleta Community Center and approving the job classification for a new Recreation Technician position. The item was approved and City Staff began the recruitment of the Recreation Technician position. As of October 2024, the position of Recreation Technician has been filled and City Staff will work on the expansion of the Senior Program, providing new classes, activities and events!
