Cares Elfers Center

Overview

CARES offers exciting programs and services in this now, beautifully renovated building. It is one of a kind and I would suggest that everyone come to see this community asset and enjoy the benefits of what happens when government and community leaders come together for a really worthwhile and important cause - the health and wellness of our older adults. There are many features to our community’s resource. A former classroom of the old 1914 Elfers School now serves as a satellite branch of the New Port Richey Library. It was named “The Avery Branch Library” by City Council. Upstairs, the spacious CARES Elfers Center Auditorium will be filled with music, ballroom dancing, tai chi, yoga and educational programs. The South Wing contains the café with a warming kitchen and ample space for a full schedule of activities such as gentle exercise, line dancing, wood carving, stained glass, and painting. Computer classes are offered in advanced curriculum as well as the basics. CARES appreciates our long term partnership with the Pasco County Government. Through the County’s grant funds and staff support CARES has been able to further its not-for-profit mission. CARES is supported by many, many great volunteers. As well as donors who generously help keep our programs and services available to those that truly need. We are grateful to them all.
