Bayou Towers is an 11-story 300-unit apartment building near downtown Houma that houses low-income elderly and those with disabilities. TCOA has been provided space by the Houma-Terrebonne Housing Authority for a senior center. The senior center staff can assist elders with their daily activities such as reading and writing letters, scheduling medical appointments, bill paying, making phone calls, scheduling transportation and other necessities. Services provided to the residents of Bayou Towers are: Information & Assistance, Wellness, Recreation, and Material Aid. TCOA provides to eligible homebound residents of Bayou Towers Home Delivered Meals, Homemaker, and Personal Care services. For Congregate Meals and other senior center activities, Bayou Towers’ elder residents may attend Shady Acres Senior Center. Transportation is provided to and from the lunch site and the senior center, as well as, to and from medical appointments and governmental facilities.
