The Barre Area Senior Center (BASC), established in 1968, is dedicated to providing programs and activities for community members aged 50 and older, from the towns of Barre, Orange, Washington, Berlin, Williamstown and other central Vermont towns as well as the city of Barre. Annual membership dues are only $35 and many activities are provided at low or no cost to members. BASC programs encourage the strengthening of bodies, brains, social connections, and the spirit of adventure with varied events and activities in the categories of Health & Well-Being, Educational and Cultural, Arts & Music, and Travel. Collaboration with area businesses and services allow for diverse offerings. BASC is an independent 501c3 charitable nonprofit, relying on tax-deductible donations, fundraisers, voter-approved funding, and endowment gifts.
