I want to support the Pop-up Pantry program. I had recently sent a donation check to you folks, however I misunderstood the program I was supporting, and requested that the donation go to the Alcona Students breakfast and lunch program. Please disregard my note and use the donation for the pop-up pantry program. This is a great way of helping those in the county who are unable to work at this time and in need of the essentials. Thank you for doing this. (We will be supporting the Student program as well.)

My experience with what this entire program has to offer has been AMAZING! I was not aware of anything aside from signage at different locations inviting the public to different events offered to the older generation. It wasn’t even a blip on my radar to be quite honest. For that, I regret not getting to know them better. It took coming to terms with my Husband’s diagnosis and the CoVid shut-in lifestyle for me to reach out for help. The VA was short staffed and any benefits which he is entitled to are in a pile on a desk somewhere in Washington D.C. I had no outlet. His disease was killing us both; until I visited the Senior Center on Church Street in Lincoln, MI. The staff was remarkable! We signed up for Meals on Wheels & Respite Services. My husband has been on Homebound Status status via the Veterans Health Administration since August 1, 2022. Anyone who has been touched by the cruelest disease of Early Onset Alzheimer’s disease with Aggressive Decline will understand how hopeless the spouse feels. The good news is that the staff of the Senior Center were there to answer my questions, let me cry, talk me through it and basically vent. They always knew how to calm me down. Today I found out that more Staff members are moving out and on to different jobs due to some internal issues which are bad enough to cause them to leave. I don’t have any details, regardless the writing is on the wall and the Board of Directors needs to realize that they are losing some of the most empathetic and intelligent Staff that Alcona Area Community On Aging can find. They have been “there” for me, my husband, and our needs for over six months. Don’t ruin a wonderful program with politics… when up until these past few weeks their enthusiasm and love for what they were able to offer
