It opened in Fall 2008 as an initiative of WellMed Medical Management as a gift to the South San Antonio community. More than 6,500 seniors are members today. The 28,000 square-foot center, the brainchild of Kym Rapier, wife of WellMed Founder Dr. George Rapier - is named after Elvira Cisneros, a member of the Texas Women’s Hall of Fame and mother of former Mayor Henry Cisneros. The senior center features state-of-the-art exercise equipment, a variety of exercise programs, dance and yoga classes, computer room, Wii fit room, library, and more.
