Additionally, the OAA offers participants opportunities to form new friendships and to create informal support networks through socialization opportunities. Research shows that older adults who participate in senior center programs can learn to manage and delay the onset of chronic diseases and experience measurable improvements in their physical, social, spiritual, emotional, mental, and economic well-being. HMS offers five senior center locations, in two counties, to assist in improving the health and well-being of seniors in Hidalgo and Grant Counties.
