The only requirement for joining the Senior Center is that the resident, or spouse, be at least sixty (60) years of age or more. The requirement for receiving homebound meals specifies that the resident be qualified as homebound. The nutrition program is supported in part by Harris County Area Agency on Aging. The meals supply one-third of the recommended daily nutrition for adults. The Senior Center also sponsors recreation and trips for seniors, including transportation for those in qualifying areas. The Center’s operating hours are from 8 a.m. through 1 p.m. The Senior Center also offers many valued services to seniors by making them aware of the right people to contact through organizations such as Medicare, AAA, and Family Services, as well as the many other services housed in the Community Center.
