Additional mobile homes were later added to the center. A $400,000 Community Development Block Grant and low interest bonds helped fund the construction of the current Jacksonville Senior Center which opened in May 1984. The property donated by the Bart Gray family of Jacksonville was the site of the former Graco Theatre which they had owned. Today the center provides a place for senior adults to socialize, have a hot meal and stay active. It provides activities and services for any person of age 60 and over. A person in that age group may bring his or her spouse who may be under 60 years of age.
